If you do not know the tropics you wil be told that rainy season starts
,depending on the area you are in , Mid May and ends Mid December.
Many people then assume that it will rain all day. This is not so. The only time that happens is when we do have a mayor storm out on the atlantic and the water gets pushed in. It did , for example , during Hurrican Mitch and it was a desaster. The destruction was impressive and it was only 2 weeks.
The normal situation is more a wonderful morning with sun and then clouds gathering and a strong rain shower of about 10 miuntes and then 1 to 2 hours of the kind of rain you would be used to living in the North America. At around 4 to 5 pm many times it will be sunny again and you will see rainbows and it will be nice and fresh. During June Monteverde has a period called \" Veranillo de San Juan \". The small summer of San Juan. This period is about 2 to 3 weeks and many times it will be without rain. But since it sarted to rain in May you will have a lush green environment and a wonderful temperature and no rain. I love rainy season and the storms in the afternoon are just wild. If you have a view you will see some of the most amazing lightning. The show is on every day , except during Veranillo de San Juan
